A Note from Mike Yurigan
Spessard Holland and The Habitat Golfers,
I wanted to give you an update on some happenings at Golf Brevard. In the first week of August we will begin installing the new intake for our irrigation at Spessard Holland. This is the first part of our irrigation project at Spessard that will see the course close on September 8th and re-open on October 1st. When the course does open for play there will still be installation happening specifically with the greens loops. What this means is that one to two holes will be closed per day until the irrigation is finished, similar to the process that was previously completed at The Habitat. We will have routing worked out so that play will only be slightly hindered through this process.
The immediate impact of a new irrigation system will be visible as soon as installation is complete, but it will really show next summer as we will be able to save and use water more efficiently throughout the course. It will also save the staff valuable time that is currently taken up by maintaining a decaying irrigation system and allow them to focus on presenting the best possible playing conditions each and every day.
We have also installed a new roof at The Habitat that will help keep us cool during the heat of summer and we are in the process of installing a new roof at Spessard Holland which should be completed soon.
I will be filming a new video update today so please keep an eye out for that coming soon on the website and social media.
Thank you to the Golf Brevard Board, Brevard County, our hardworking staff, and most of all to you the golfer for your continued support of The Habitat and Spessard Holland.
