A Note from Mike Yurigan
To all Habitat and Spessard Holland golfers:
Just a quick update regarding both golf courses and our future plans.
The new lithium battery golf carts from Club Car will be arriving Thursday December 11th. In the past we have discussed the carts based on cost, comfort and durability. The carts are the top of the line for a public fleet; the cost has increased $30.00 plus dollars a cart per month. So, we need to take special care of the carts. We have signed a 4+ year lease which means certain policies need to change.
First change is starting January 1st, 2026, you will need to stop at the bag drop or park your automobile and bring your bag to the bag drop. Staff will be there to help you with your bag. No cart keys will be given out until you sign in at the golf shop and pay for your round. There will be one key per cart the bag drop will give you a key after you sign in. This policy goes for all golfers and memberships. Also, we will have the starter sign out the cart at the first tee. If you decide to play in a foursome and you decide to take your own cart and do not pair up there will be a $10.00 additional fee on top of your regular rate. If you have a medical issue you need to see the General Manger to discuss before fee is waived. When you finish your round, you may drive into the parking lot and drop off your clubs. Please return the cart to the barn if you would. Staff will be available to help!
I’m sure there are many questions you have with this, so I will try and answer them ahead of time.
Safety in the parking lot
Golfers bringing coolers with alcohol
Carts being damaged
I think this is straight forward, Golf Brevard as you know has spent the last 7 years working extremely hard to make both golf courses better and we want to continue to do so. I’m sure most of you know my goal for the courses is to offer the lowest price for a beer or hot dog and even the pro shop merchandise. Those things for both courses are an amenity, and we want to continue to offer those lower prices, so you receive the best value anywhere. If we can’t all help self-monitor the golfers and the courses then we will need to add more staff, GPS, etc. If those things are added, then you know we will need to increase fees, and we don’t want to do that. The most important thing that affects the course the is cart traffic around the tees and greens. When driving around tees and greens, please stay on the cart paths, this time of year with the amount of play the turf doesn’t recover as fast as in the summer. We need to be diligent and remind your playing partners to be careful and please do your part to drive in safe places around those high traffic areas.
The irrigation project at Spessard is still scheduled for next September 2026. As we get closer, I will send out another email with all the particulars.
I would like to thank every one of you for making the Habitat and Spessard Holland so successful over the past 7 plus years. We are looking forward to continuing to grow and improve. We hope you will continue to enjoy the ride with us.
A special thank you to the staff at both courses. They continue to do a great job every day. We are here to try and make your day a little brighter, even if you missed that putt for your best round ever.
In conclusion, my goal every day along with staff is to offer the best value, conditions and to continue to improve!
Thank you again for your support and patronage we look forward to serving.
Best Regards,
Mike Yurigan
